Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Snowy Days My Mag-pie gets bigger and stronger everyday. I see her budding independance and have to be just a little sad. I'm no longer her only sense of amusement. Playing on the floor with me is no longer her favorite thing. I'm LUCKY if I can get her to play with me at all, in fact. There's just so much to explore now that she is an accomplished crawler. There are so many neat things in the kitchen....cabinets to open with pots to bang, chairs to pull up on. And then there's Mommy's personal favorite destination - the stairs. She gets up them great, it's the getting back down she hasn't quite mastered yet. She's still rambling "mamamma" and "dadadada". I'm certain now she knows what they mean. When Tommy gets home from work, it's always to a big grin, an excited scream and "dadada". And when she falls down after taking an attempted step I hear, "mamamma." I love that. (not the falling part, but the needing me part!) She has 6 teeth now. There are 4 up top and 2 on the bottow. All 4 up top emerged around the same time and with little to no fussing. Whew! We just got back from a fantastic Superbowl weekend. Maggie was SO GOOD! We went back to Greenville to visit some friends. On Saturday, Maggie saw her friend Ashby who was born 6 days before her. They got many of the same toys for Christmas. This was really the first time that they've been together that they have been able to sit and play with toys. They were so cute! They both pulled up on the cruise and crawl gym (Mag's favorite) and just stared at each other. Then on Sunday it was off to Raleigh for her godmother's birthday/Superbowl party. It was at a great restaurant in Raleigh called "Hi 5". The place was packed and the crowd was noisy and my child was perfect. She was a social butterfly. She LOVED all the attention. And she took a nap during the first half of the game!!! I was so worried all the screaming at the game would upset her. She LOVED it. Everyone (even the manager of the restaurant) said what a great kid she is. I know. :-) posted at 10:29 PM | # | (1) any comments? Thursday, January 16, 2003 AGAIN with the snow Well, yet again we'll be seeing snow. I can't believe all the freaking snow that has fallen since November. I love it! Too bad I'm not in school so that I can get all excited about a day off. Wait a minute...every day is a day off for me. posted at 10:25 PM | # | (1) any comments? Tuesday, January 14, 2003 10 Months Old Well, my little girl is 10 months old today. I can't believe it. Last year at this time I was stuffing my face....as big as a house....Oh wait, nothing's changed since last year. Ha Ha! Maggie gets sweeter by the day. Tommy says she sounds like some kind of tribesman because she is always shouting out these nonsensicle ramblings. "oooododododdddddooooooo........." I love them. They crack me up. You know what else cracks me up? When she farts. Am I always going to be laughing at her farts? For some reason, when this teeny tiny little butt unleashes this earth shattering rumble I just loose it. posted at 04:08 PM | # | (3) any comments? Sunday, January 12, 2003 Uh-Oh I can't believe it's 2003. I know every year people always say, "Man, I can't believe it's 1997....1999.....2000...(fill in year here)." But, this time I'm sincere. I can't believe it's 2003. Maybe because 2002 was such a HUGE year for us. The move back home to VA, Tommy's fantastic new job, oh yeah, and the baby. And, now a new year begins. As I write this, Maggie is just 2 days shy of being 10 months old. She is crawling. She pulls herself up on *everything* all the time. Now she's getting brave and letting go to see how long she can stand. And the standing time gets longer and longer. No doubt she'll be walking soon. She has all 4 of her front teeth and I can see 2 more up top waiting to come down. She's been babbling "mamamam" and "dadadad" for a quite some time now, but I think now she's finally making the connection that they mean something and what they mean. She says, "Uh-oh" all the time too. It's so cute to hear her say it. GOD - I'm almost the mother of a one year old. I still remember the Egg McMuffin I ate the Friday morning in July when I found out I was pregnant. Yep, guess we'll be sending her off to college soon. At least that's how my Mom makes it sound. "She'll be gone before you know it, Tara. Just like you were." Jesus, I feel like getting out my guitar and writing a country song sometimes when I'm done talking with my Mother. Anyway, there are some big events coming up for the Cahoon's. Tommy's Mom is having ANOTHER surgery on the ankle she broke a week before our wedding. That's next Wednesday. The day after Valentine's day Maggie is going to her first wedding. It's Tommy's cousin in VA Beach. Then, Maggie's first birthday in March. And then at the end of March, her first (and Mommy's first) airplane trip. We're flying out to Arizona to attend Tommy's pregnant little sister's wedding. I'm a little nervous about that one. Looks like this year is going to be just as eventful as the last. posted at 08:58 PM | # | (1) any comments? Tuesday, January 7, 2003 Same Old Crap... I'm not sure why I can't get back into the swing of things with this blog. I mean I have the access. And usually I have the time. Maybe I can't tear myself away from Maggie? I don't know. She's been VERY sick. Right before Christmas she got a nasty ear infection and later diagnosed with RSV and virus that can be really severe in tiny tots. We're FINALLY getting over it now, though, I hope. Needless to say, it's been a rough couple of weeks. So, that's the reason for my latest absence. More later.....PROMISE! posted at 04:36 PM | # | (1) any comments? |
